Restore MySQL data
How to restore MySQL data
If your website uses a MySQL ® database, you must back up its data by exporting it on to your local computer. Use data previously saved on your local computer to restore the MySQL database on the following Demon shared hosting products: -
- Demon Web Hosting Professional
- Demon Web Hosting Advanced
- Demon Web Hosting Standard
--------------------------------------------------------------
- Log in to your control panel at https://admin.dwh.demon.net
-
- Click on the 'My Database' section
-
- Login to the PHPMyAdmin tool
-
- Click on the name of the database at the top left corner of the page
-
- Click on the SQL tab at the top centre of the screen
-
- Click on the BROWSE button next to 'Or Location of the textfile:'
-
- Find the location of the MySQL dump file on your local computer
-
- Click on the 'GO' button
--------------------------------------------------------------
The instructions for creating the back up on your local computer advised that very large databases are backed up in smaller sections because : -
- If the MySQL dump file is larger than 1 MB then it may produce a time out error on the web page HOWEVER the upload will still be running in the background.
- If the MySQL dump file is larger than 4 MB then it will need to be divided up into smaller chunks before it can be uploaded.
