Unmetered upgrade withdrawn 31st March 2007

If you have maintained a BT SurfTime subscription on your BT phone line since before 30th June 2005, you can use your Demon Dial-up account without being charged for calls- so called "unmetered", but only up to 31st March 2007. This is because BT is withdrawing the SurfTime scheme from that date and all calls will be charged at a pence per minute rate.

No call charges in three steps

Step 1 . Choose whether you want Internet access with no call charges 24 hours-a-day or just during evening and weekend periods. Sign up for the appropriate Demon account to go with the BT SurfTime discount scheme you have, as shown in the table below

Evening & weekend Any time (includes week days)
Demon Account Standard Dial-up or Premier Connect (£11.75 pcm) Premier Connect Plus (£19.99 pcm) or Business ISDN (i.e. Super Showroom, BDU and NDU)
For 100% discount on our Internet Access calls join one of these BT schemes: BT Surftime Evening and Weekends at £7 pcm. (Links to BT website: Information) BT SurfTime Anytime (£35 pcm). Links to BT website:

PCM = monthly subscription. BT Pricing as at 1st July 2005.

Step 2. Set your computer to dial the correct Demon G5 number. Make a "Dial-up Connection" (Help available) with a number beginning 0844 041: -

  • Standard Dial-up (SDU), Premier Connect Plus and BDU: 0844 041 6662 (Analogue modems) or 0844 041 6672 (ISDN 64kbps ).

  • Super Showroom Business ISDN get 128kbps on 0844 041 6677

  • NDU customers 0844 041 6675 (ISDN 64kbps ).

Many customers with evening and weekend accounts go on to create a second "Dial-up Connection" for weekdays and choose a low cost Pay-As-You-Go number.

Step 3. Wait for BT to process your registration for 100% discounted calls – this takes 24 to 48 hours. While you wait you can get started straight away at minimal cost because our numbers are charged approximately 50% below local call rates anyway. To be sure our Internet call charges are being 100% discounted, check your BT online bill every day or so for the first week.

Moving from another ISP?

When moving from another ISP to Demon you should maintain existing BT SurfTime subscription. Please note "BT Openworld Anytime" and "BT Together 24/7 Internet" are capped services which are not compatible with your unlimited Demon account.

Using Demon service on other lines

Internet Access calls are discounted 100% on BT telephone or BT ISDN-2 lines that has BT SurfTime subscription applied. For other types of lines where you can’t access the Internet free of call charges, your Demon account does offer Pay As You Go rates that are amongst the lowest in the industry. These other line types include :-

  • Most alternative network operators in the UK

  • Some mobile networks in the UK

  • overseas operators

  • BT ISDN-30 lines and certain other line types
