How to setup and connect to the Windows ME Setup

Windows ME Setup

Make New Connection

Double-click on the MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop and then double-click on the CONTROL PANEL icon.

Double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.

Double-click on Make New Connection and follow the steps below.

Name the computer that you are dialling to Demon, and ensure that the modem currently installed on your computer is selected.

Click Next.

In the Area code box, type in the Area Code 0845 and the telephone number 2120666 into the telephone number box.

In the Dial-Up Networking window, click the Demon icon with your right mouse button and select Properties with your left mouse button.

Click Next then click Finish.

Setting up Dial-up Networking.

In the Dial-Up Networking window, click on the Demon connection with your right mouse button and select Properties with your left mouse button.

You will see the following screen :-

Place a tick in the Use area code and Dialling Properties box.

If you are on a LAN (Local Area Network), you should consult with your Network Administrator before going any further, as changing the numbers in this section could result in the loss of your LAN connectivity.

Click the Networking tab.

The type of Dial-Up Server should be set to PPP: Internet, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME

Ensure that the only box ticked is TCP/IP. All the other boxes must be unticked.

Click TCP/IP Settings...

If you are connecting via a modem:

Enable Server Assigned IP Address.
Enable Specify Name Server Addresses. Enter 158.152.1.58 as the Primary and 158.152.1.43 as the Secondary.

If you are connecting via ISDN:

Enable Server Assigned IP Address.
Enable Server Assigned Name Server Addresses.

Primary and Secondary WINS remain as zero's.
Place a tick next to Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network.

Click OK and then click Security

Enter Your hostname in the username box.

Enter Your logon password in the password box.

Place a tick in Connect Automatically

Click the Dialling tab.

If you want to select Demon as your default Internet connection place a tick next to: This is the default Internet connection.

Next place a dot in the radio button next to: Always dial my default connection.

You can also enable Dial-up Networking to disconnect if idle for the time specified.
