Terrapin FTP Installation Guide

( Note: This software is not supported by our Helpdesk ).

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) can be used to upload webpages prepared on your computer to your Demon homepages Web space on the Internet.

Warning: Transferring files from the Internet opens your computer up to the possibilty of downloading computer viruses. You should always check any software you have downloaded for viruses before using it.

You can download Terrapin FTP 30 day free trial from here. Once you have downloaded the setup program run it. The following dialog box will appear:

Click the Setup button to start the installation process.

Once you have read the welcome message, click Next. Read the license agreement, if you accept it, click Accept, then click Next. (Note If you choose not to accept the license, you will not be able to install the software).

Enter your name and company/organisation name where prompted and then click Next.

You will now be asked to enter your Demon email address i.e. your-name@your-hostname.demon.co.uk. You may be on a free trial, but if you have already bought a license for Terrapin FTP, enter this in the appropriate boxes. Click Next.

Now enter your Dial-up/ADSL password (not your POP3 mail password) and click Next.

You will be told that a shortcut has been created on the desktop. Click OK.

You will be asked where to install the software. Normally the default is fine i.e. C:\Program Files\Terrapin FTP, so click Next. You will be asked where the Start Menu folder should be placed. Again the default should be fine. Click Next. Then click Finish.

Terrapin FTP is now installed.

The Terrapin FTP free trial can be started at a different time to the Demon Standard Dial-up free trial. If at any point you want to uninstall Terrapin FTP, please see the Uninstallation Guide.
